Looking good | Feeling good | Good for the environment

Oct 30, 2017

Today, it’s not just about looking good, but also feeling good  when you are shopping— for buying responsible clothing that makes a positive impact on the wellbeing of our environment. Sustainability is a hot topic in the fashion world, and conscious consumers today have the opportunity to choose from many products with a reduced environmental impact. Here at Apricoss, we know that swimwear can be beautiful, durable and sustainable at the same time.  For that purpose we have chosen to partner with Aquafil, the leading manufacturer of regenerated nylon yarn ECONYL®.

What is ECONYL®? The ECONYL® yarn is a 100% regenerated Nylon coming from pre- and post- consumer Nylon waste like fishing nets and fluff (the upper part of old carpets).

How ECONYL® Regeneration works ? ECONYL® Regeneration System recovers pre and post consumer waste material and regenerate it giving it a new life and contributing to a cleaner environment. Pre-consumer waste can be production discards, industrial plastic components and textile scraps. Post-consumer waste, the most challenging waste to get rid off, is waste dumped in landfills or abandoned in nature with big environmental footprint.

The ECONYL® Regeneration system uses a unique chemical process that creates regenerated yarn from waste while keeping the same characteristics of Nylon coming from fossil raw material. The waste material that would otherwise harm the environment is used to  save precious fossil raw material that is normally used in the production of Nylon.

The DATA! For every 10,000 tons of ECONYL® caprolactam, these are the environmental benefits obtained: 70 thousand barrels of crude oil saved / 57 thousand tons of CO2 equivalent emissions avoided / 1.012 thousand GJ on total primary energy demand saved.

It’s time for change.
